Holden Astra No Logbooks
Just before Christmas 2013, a nice lady called me about selling a Holden Astra Coupe in Brisbane today – but with no logbooks nor service history.
When dealers sell cars, we get punished if there are no receipts nor no recorded service history.
With the proliferation of odometers being wound back, showing your car has a good service history is a vital piece of information for the canny buyer who can justify the kilometers showing on the clock.
It’s also good practice to service your car often not only for optimum performance, but to keep it in general good condition.
If you call me to sell your car for cash today and you don’t have any receipts or service history, it will certainly count against you in the final price you will realise for it.
This is true whether I buy it, another dealer buys it – or even if you try and sell it privately.
In the case of this Holden Astra Coupe, it’s a nice car in generally good condition.
It drives very well and has been reasonably well looked after.
Apart from a bit of paint fading on the roof and a few bumps from shopping trolleys.
With a quick inspection and with my experience of looking over cars, I could see the wear and tear on the car was roughly in proportion with it’s age and the number of kms on the odometer.
But not everyone is so forgiving and would rather the service history for insurance purposes.
