The first step is to pick up the phone or send me a message and give me a little bit of information about the car you want to sell quickly.

If I don’t pick up the phone first time, please do leave me a brief message and your return telephone number and I’ll be sure to get back to you quite quickly.

Typically we will work out a suitable time and place to meet, have a look over your car and do a brief test drive.

Every car has a price and I will usually be able to explain my offer to you.

The final price we land on can depend on a lot of factors. Some of these include:

• The general overall condition of your car.
• The maintenance history.
• The year and how many kilometres it has travelled.
• Its registration status – e.g. is it registered in Qld, if at all and how much registration it has left to run.

Assuming we can agree to a price, the rest is very quick and easy. Firstly you and I fill in a simple Qld government form known as a “vendor’s statement”.

By signing this form you acknowledge you are the legal owner of the car, that we have agreed on a price and that the ownership and registration (if applicable) transfers from you to my licensed motor trading business.

If you prefer to be paid cash for your car today, then this can usually be arranged with a little notice.

Usually though, I do an instant bank transfer from my Commonwealth Banking business account in front of you and the bank sends you a confirmation email of the cash being transferred to your nominated account.

I don’t generally buy cars that don’t run, but if you have a known reason, we can discuss this and we still might be able to come up with a price for you.

If this happens, I’ll usually arrange for a tow truck to come and pick it up at a later time suitable to you.

Then you are pressured to sell on the spot for the much reduced price.
