E-Toll Govia Tag

When you sell your car for cash to me or anyone else, make sure you go through every pocket, every box and under every seat to make sure you have everything.

Especially your EToll tag!

This is an easy thing to forget because it is discretely hidden away behind the rear-view mirror on the windscreen.

I have quite a collection of these when people have sold their car to me and forgotten to check inside thoroughly.

I do the right thing and try and return them to their owners, but not everyone will do this.

Some people will see this and rack up a toll bill until you notice.

But sometimes even when the new owner tries to do the right thing, you’ll still get the bill.

Why?

Well I bought a Holden Cruze off a young guy just about to go overseas.

By the time I found the tag he was gone.

I tried to use my account to pay for tolls whilst driving this car, but his account was overriding it and he was paying for it.

And neither me nor the toll company could get in touch with him to take it off.

So the only way he would know is when he sees the top-up amounts being taken off his credit card.

Which it seems he didn’t notice…

Check also in the pockets behind the front seats.

You never know what treasures your kids have stuffed away in there.

Obviously the glovebox also.

But make sure you leave maintenance logbooks and receipts – these are very important for getting the best price for your used car.
