Dodgy Car Dealers

Why would you sell your car to a dealer?

A dealer just doesn’t offer you a good price.

Dealers are dodgy.

Car dealers are rip-off merchants.

They will offer you nothing for your car.

Car dealers are not honest.

Motor dealer just want your money.

Motor dealers make a fortune ripping honest people off.

We’ve all heard these sorts of things right?

Surely we licensed motor dealers in Brisbane aren’t as bad as lawyers, real estate agents or recruiters right?! 🙂

I’m not quite sure where all the bad stories come from, but I’ll say that a lot of the stereotype is unfair.

Sure we make money from cars.

But I can tell you if it’s a lot of money you seek, consider entering other industries.

The margins on used cars are simply not big.

You won’t find many dealers driving around in expensive Italian sports cars.

So why aren’t the doctors, dentists or bankers ridiculed for doing so?

Maybe they are. But car dealers just have a bad stigma attached to them.

Oh well, all I can do is operate my small business with integrity and make sure I am doing the right thing by people in every situation.

But difficult situations do come up in this industry.

For example 2 weeks ago I sold a Proton Jumbuck.

Our roadworthy (safety certificate) mechanic is very hard on vehicles.

My customer called up throwing accusations that we must have got a dodgy RWC and the clock was wound back.

Strong accusations.

And a jailable offence if it was true.

We purchased the car wholesale from one of Australia’s largest car dealers – the Eager’s Group and can prove the history of the car.

Secondly, just because her mechanic picked up a rusty joint that ours didn’t, doesn’t mean we are hiding things.

Take a job – any job – to multiple service providers – even in your industry, and are you going to get the same opinions?

Of course not.

People tend to fly off the handle and blame the dealer for being dodgy when these unfortunate things happen.

Next time you think a motor dealer in Brisbane is being dodgy, please before throwing stones and accusations, do some research on the matter – and the people at hand.

The large majority of us are doing a good and honest job and the best we can.

It’s only the occasional bad apple that gives the industry and unfortunate bad name.

Surely the same could be said for any industry.

Anyway I realise this post has been written a bit all over the place but I hope you get the idea. If you would like an appraisal of how much your car is worth to me please call me on 0411 362 229. I pay cash for cars in Brisbane.
